Rosenberg House, Bath

Following receipt of Planning and Listed Building Approval in January, works to remodel Rosenberg House - almshouses located in the heart of Bath - started on site in mid May.

The 15 apartments will be spacious and suitably equipped for older people and a new atrium will welcome residents and visitors into a light, bright entrance foyer. A high quality, welcoming and accessible new entrance leading through the existing garden will also be created.

The exterior will be largely retained although double-glazing and new roofs, partly with PV-panels, are part of the energy saving measures proposed by the Design Team. The Grade II listed building is located in the historic center of Bath between Westgate Buildings and Chandos Buildings. The 5-storey building was erected in 1974 partly funded by a generous legacy from William Rosenberg, in gratitude for the care his mother had received as a resident at St John’s, and incorporates the facade of no 3 Chandos Buildings to the east, designed by John Wood the Elder.

Completion date is set for May 2015 and the project team includes Matthew Quick, Keon Baker, Barry Golledge and Leighton McCarthy.
