Celebrating Women in Construction Week and International Women's Day at Bray & Slaughter

In celebration of Women in Construction Week and International Women’s Day, we reflect on the meaningful contributions women have made within our company and our local community. This week, we've focused on inspiring the next generation, offering hands-on experiences for local students, and reinforcing our commitment to social value, equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). These efforts are all part of our ongoing work to break down barriers and encourage women and underrepresented groups to pursue careers in construction.

Here’s a look at some key highlights from the week:

Inspiring the Next Generation: Bethan Knight & Will Bryant at Mangotsfield School

Bethan Knight and Will Bryant visited Mangotsfield School, delivering back-to-back presentations to students on what working in the construction industry looks like and what their roles entail.

Providing Opportunities: Seham’s Work Experience at Bray & Slaughter

We were fortunate to host Seham, a local student from Next Level Training, for work experience this week. She spent time shadowing Gaynor, our Office Manager, learning more about business support and the broader workings of the construction sector.

Driving Social Value and EDI Efforts: Welcoming Katie Corbett

This week, we were pleased to appoint Katie Corbett as our new Social Value and EDI Manager. Katie will play a key role in driving our social value initiatives and supporting our ongoing efforts in equity, diversity, and inclusion. As the EDI Champion on the Women in Property South West Committee, Katie will continue to advocate for EDI across the local industry.

With women making up only 15% of the construction industry workforce, we recognise our responsibility to promote diversity and inclusion in the industry. We will continue to empower our team and encourage local talent within our community, showing them that the construction industry is a space where they can thrive and succeed.
