What an absolute joy to join so many other local businesses at the Oasis Academy John Williams Careers Fair yesterday.

It was a full day meeting learners from year groups 7 to 11 to inform them in their decision on a chosen career path. There were many enthusiastic young people interested in a career in construction and it was pleasing to note that so many of these were female, with a 50/50 gender split queuing to try our PPE out for size.

The confidence levels of everyone we met was outstanding and is a credit to Oasis Academy John Williams.

Thank you to Christopher Bufton and the team for a very well organised event and such fantastic hospitality. We just loved being given the opportunity to inspire young people to join the construction industry.

On a dull, wet, and windy Thursday we were pleased to welcome over 25 individuals to the Old Magistrates Court site in Bristol. The visitors included our Client the Creative Youth Network and future tenants.

This was the perfect way for our on-site Trainee and Apprentice to demonstrate their knowledge of the project and to make use of their technical skills.

Ben Deane – Trainee Site Manager and Zoe Koeberg – Digital Marketing Apprentice were among the B&S representatives on hand to tour the site and update the visitors on our planned work activities. Zoe was also the dedicated photographer for the day using the photographic skills she had previously learned at School.

The visit was a success and the group are looking forward to seeing the completion of the project and the transformation of this Grade 2 Listed facility in the heart of Bristol.

We will be running a series of hard hat tours throughout the project and look forward to welcoming a number of local groups to a tour of the facility.

Congratulations to Lee Wilson who celebrates 30 years service with B&S.

Lee joined the company in 1990 at the tender age of 23, progressing to supervising a team of plasterers which included several apprentices.  He enjoyed working with young people and in particular developing their knowledge of trade based skills and techniques, something which he still takes pride in today.

The next chapter for Lee was appointment to Site Manager where he successfully delivered projects for some of our most prestigious and valued local Clients including the Tyntesfield Estate and the University of Bath. Lee takes a keen interest in continuing professional development and has added sector specific skills to his substantial based of vocational knowledge and experience.

Today, Lee heads up our Customer Aftercare team an integral role to the business in ensuring that our Clients needs are met in the post construction stage of the project.
