What an exciting morning for our marketing team, a trip down to Ashton Gate to attend the marketingSHOWCASE Bristol.

The room was filled with marketing professionals from all industries coming together to share expertise and advice as well as giving away some merchandise (a few particularly nice cupcakes were up for grabs). Many were in attendance offering services to help businesses expand their current marketing activities and improve on points they may currently be insufficient.

This was an amazing experience for our digital marketing apprentice Zoe who got to speak with industry professionals who gave her valuable guidance on ways to improve Bray & Slaughters own marketing as well as the future options available to a current marketing student.

Exciting times ahead as we explore our new connections.

So earlier this week we had a visit from Tony Hall from Bristol Dementia Action Alliance.

In 2022, BDAA launched its awards to organisations, businesses, schools and groups helping to increase awareness of dementia within their group and community.

We are proud to announce that during the visit we received a Bronze Award for recognition of the actions that Bray & Slaughter have taken to increase dementia awareness.

Tony and BDAA’s small team of volunteers are doing some great work in the local community trying to raise awareness of dementia and endeavouring to make Bristol a dementia aware city.

Fancy a dementia awareness workshop delivered by Tony at your premises? Then head over to the BDAA website https://bdaa.org.uk/

You may have spotted some of our team around today sporting some pink, don’t we all look fabulous? From our hair all the way down to our pink sock cladded feet.

Wear it Pink is something we take part in annually here at Bray & Slaughter to raise money for Breast Cancer Now. Behind the fun of playing dress up the money raised is used to help carry out research and support those affected by Breast Cancer.

The rain stayed away for our site tour of Whitchurch yesterday, when we welcomed Naomi Logan from the West of England Combined Authority and Mairead McLoughlin and Sam Porter from Bristol City Council’s South Bristol Talent Pathway Project.

The tour was followed by a meeting to discuss the South Bristol Talent Pathway Project (SBTaPP) and the benefits it has brought to the B&S business.

Our thanks to all who attended and offered their experiences of engaging in learning, skills and employment days and supporting local community events in the city of Bristol. All of which was made possible by the SBTaPP team.

We look forward to welcoming our visitors back to site upon completion of the project.

What an absolute joy to join so many other local businesses at the Oasis Academy John Williams Careers Fair yesterday.

It was a full day meeting learners from year groups 7 to 11 to inform them in their decision on a chosen career path. There were many enthusiastic young people interested in a career in construction and it was pleasing to note that so many of these were female, with a 50/50 gender split queuing to try our PPE out for size.

The confidence levels of everyone we met was outstanding and is a credit to Oasis Academy John Williams.

Thank you to Christopher Bufton and the team for a very well organised event and such fantastic hospitality. We just loved being given the opportunity to inspire young people to join the construction industry.

It was great to take part in the speed networking event at Oasis Academy Brightstowe with a group of year 11 students this morning. The students interviewing us exuded confidence and enthusiasm, despite nerves for their upcoming physics exam.

A very well organised event and we look forward to continuing our efforts in educating young people on potential career options within the construction industry.

On a dull, wet, and windy Thursday we were pleased to welcome over 25 individuals to the Old Magistrates Court site in Bristol. The visitors included our Client the Creative Youth Network and future tenants.

This was the perfect way for our on-site Trainee and Apprentice to demonstrate their knowledge of the project and to make use of their technical skills.

Ben Deane – Trainee Site Manager and Zoe Koeberg – Digital Marketing Apprentice were among the B&S representatives on hand to tour the site and update the visitors on our planned work activities. Zoe was also the dedicated photographer for the day using the photographic skills she had previously learned at School.

The visit was a success and the group are looking forward to seeing the completion of the project and the transformation of this Grade 2 Listed facility in the heart of Bristol.

We will be running a series of hard hat tours throughout the project and look forward to welcoming a number of local groups to a tour of the facility.

We had fun in the B&S office raising valuable funds for “Wear It Pink” for Breast Cancer Now and highlighting the importance of checking your breasts!

Breast Cancer does not stop for anything. This year alone 55,000 women and 370 men in the UK will hear the words “it’s breast cancer” and around 11,500 women and 80 men will die from it. This is why raising awareness is so important.

Every year B&S supports the charity and this year was no exception with the business raising over £80.00 just by eating cake.

Well done everyone for doing your part raising awareness of this cause.
