Bray & Slaughter achieve new international health and safety standard

We are pleased to announce that on 10 April 2019, Advanced Certification concluded their audit of Bray and Slaughters Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and have awarded us the ISO 45001:2018 accreditation. This award follows another RoSPA Gold award received in 2018 in recognition of our commitment to Health & Safety.

ISO 45001:2018 is the latest international health and safety standard, established in 2018 to replace OHSAS 18001:2015. It provides a framework to improve employee safety, reduce workplace risks and create better, safer working conditions.

The new standard also broadly addresses the needs and expectations of various stakeholders, and guides companies in getting their employees to participate extensively in health and safety.
Whilst some of the requirements within OHSAS 18001 have been retained in the new standard, ISO 45001:2018 uses a high level structure featuring terms, definitions, headings and text common to all management system standards allowing easier integration when implementing multiple management systems. This enables us to align ISO 45001:2015 with our other accreditations, ISO 9001 Quality Management and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management.

Other changes include an emphasis on leadership risk based thinking as well as participation and consultation of decision-makers and workers to ensure the management system covers what is needed and is communicated effectively to all involved.

Matthew Cooper | Health & Safety Director commented:

Securing the ISO 45001:2018 certification is an important milestone in our journey and one that we are extremely proud of”.
