University of Bristol, 33 Colston Street

Key Facts

Value:
£4.25m
Programme:
48 Weeks
Scope of work:
The design and construction of 121 student bedrooms, incorporating en-suite bathroom pods, communal kitchens, break out and group study spaces in a city centre building.

The building had been empty for a number of years. New external steel staircases, MRL lifts and cycle stores were all installed as part of the project. We also designed and managed the fixed furniture install, which ensured smooth interfaces and high quality accommodation.

The building achieved a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’ and was completed on time. Acoustic ratings, thermal performance and the sustainability of the building were high on the agenda.

By utilising innovative temporary works strategies and off side manufacturing of pod bathrooms, we were able to construct high quality, functional spaces which maximised the floor plate of the building.
